Thank you Deitra! Below are your claims. I wanted to add that the cantera opals are from Central Mexico and cut by a gentleman named Hector in his home lapidary shop. The mining happens in the hill nearby and it is small scale mining, open pit where they blast the rock with dynamite and search for the opal veins and deposits among the rubble. I was lucky enough to visit the mines one afternoon and try mining for opals myself, it is half experience and half luck as the miners use hand took pick axes to break open the cantera rock to (hopefully) find an opal inside. Sometimes they break the opal while trying to uncover it.
